SVP, Physician Revenue Cycle
Ethan brings more than 20 years of healthcare experience in progressive leadership roles within four of the top ten healthcare systems. Ethan has spent the majority of his career working to transform the revenue cycle by helping providers improve financial and operating performance. He has a proven record of building successful teams and guiding companies through periods of innovation.
His experience includes: large scale multi-national acute and physician revenue cycle operations; technology rationalization, implementation, and optimization; standardization and optimization of business processes; and deployment of revenue cycle business intelligence and reporting platforms.
Prior joining Ensemble Health Partners, Ethan was Vice President of Revenue Cycle Operations and Physician Revenue Cycle Strategy for R1 RCM, Inc. He led a regional revenue cycle consolidation initiative and managed operations for both acute and physician revenue cycle operations with approximately $2B in annual cash collections, 20 facilities and 300 FTEs.
Before R1 RCM, Ethan was a consulting director with Huron where he led a revenue cycle improvement project for a large California academic medical group resulting in an increase in reoccurring annual cash collections of approximately 8% or $18M through Epic optimization, process improvement and analytics.
Prior to Huron, Ethan was Vice President of Business Analytics and Operations Support with Parallon for HCA Healthcare's physician revenue cycle service center with $1B in annual cash collections. Ethan was responsible for implementing new technology platforms for claim editing, accounts receivable workflow and business intelligence, which resulted in a 70% reduction in initial denials. He also led teams responsible for developing and standardizing business processes across the enterprise and development of new proprietary technology leveraged in operations.
Ethan has held several other leadership roles in hospital and clinical financial operations for HCA, Tenet Healthcare, Community Health Systems and KPMG. He holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from Emory University and completed his Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Accounting, from Middle Tennessee State University. He is a Member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Medical Group Management Association.
